Re: Agco Self-propelled Choppers?

Hi,

AFAIK they don't own a company so far. But Fendt, the german tractor brand made some comments, I think it was last year. They were going to produce a chopper within the next couple of years. Lots of Fendt's are bought by contractors over here so they'd like to offer them the complete range of products. They already brought in balers and combines from the Agco-group and painted them fendt colours. (not really popular, BTW) So they need a chopper next, because that is one main source of income for contractors over here.
Claas for combines and choppers and Fendt for tractors is a very common combination for a contractor over here. Since claas builds their own tractors you start to see whole fleets of Claas products. It makes sense for Fendt/Agco to step in there.

My guess would be that those choppers are likely not only gonna be marketed under Fendt brand. *grin*

Re: Agco Self-propelled Choppers?

Back in the 90's around the time Agco bought MF, MF offered the Mengele self propelled harvester in Europe and even sold some Mengele big balers until a deal was worked out with Fiat on selling Hesston balers in Europe. (Mengele and the East German forage harvesters were bought by CIH ending MF's selling of them. ) Does Agco still sell pull type choppers built by Dion of Canada? The forage harvester or even the New Idea manure spreaders aren't shown on their site under the Hesston MF/Agco brands. I was wondering if some products are dropped or just not listed on the site?

agco sells pull type choppers under the hesston name and as far as I know they are still the Dion model. We have one and it is a great machine

Quote:They could start with a pull type Hesston chopper. Think they used to have some of them.

Hesston also offered some Hesston self propelled machines, which seemed pretty advanced for their time. I'd sure like to see a new Hesston Field Queen SPFH brought on to the market.

Right now the closest thing to an Agco SPFH is Claas.

I know AGCO and Claas aren't legally bound, but it's hard not to view them as one, between the Claas/Challenger Tracked tractors, Lexion combines, and the fact that the majority of Claas dealers in NA are Agco dealers...

Hey Josh,

hate to tell you, but that is wrong. The Claas/Cat deal that people often confuse for an Claas/AGCO deal is off for quite some time now. The Cat tracked tractors got marketed as Claas in someplaces and the Lexion got a CAT coat in NA. But that is all history.
After that CAT sold (?) the tracked tractor branch to AGCO. They market those and their yellow version of the MF/Gleaner combine under the name Challenger.
Claas still markets the combines in NA trough CAT though. But that is Lexion, very different from Challenger. Claas doesn't sell any tracked tractors over here anymore. AGCO does themselves.

Don't know about the dealers in NA. Maybe there is more to the story than I know?

They must not focus only on fendt. They must sell them under the Hesston and MF brandname.

Re: Agco Self-propelled Choppers?

Just read that there is a chance that the new AGCO sp choppers are gonna be built here in denmark on the plant that builds the cerea combines for massey .
and that they are probably gonna be marketed under various brand names depending on where in the world they are sold and this came from some of the AGCO brass.
