I think you would be alright as long as you use your head and dont get in a hurry. You might want to check to see if NH used a 3rd cylinder on the feederhouse for larger heads though.

The older TR's used suitcase wieghts like on the front end of a tractor but hung on the rear axel. Ithink they had a bolt on bracket for each side.
There are still quite a few older 70's 75 and 85's running around here with 6row heads. 6-30" was common here. I don't think I've ever seen a 962 corn head in an 8 row.
