Re: Flex Draper Questions?

Farmer across the county bought a new 7010 for the 2007 harvest and had a draper on it. Really wet conditions in October and had problems pushing mud. Freinds father in law has a 8010 with the 35ft 2020 on it and had no problems with it, even floated through standing water. I personally would go with the 2020 with an air reel over the draper, but its your dollar your spending. Good luck

Re: Flex Draper Questions?

We run 2 drapers on 8010s and I would never go with the 2020! The guys around here are trading them off and are going with the draper. If drapers is set right you will cut in water just by dialing it up. We generally cut at a angle because we are in 22" rows. And our heads are set right. I have not talked to any one that wishes they had a flex head back after the draper. We to cut beans and wheat with ours. They save more beans than the 1020s with the air reels that we had on the 88s did runing side by side. Had 1 draper for 3 years and the other for 2 now. I really like the looks of the new ones now, much easyer to put in the tow transport than the ones we have. Farmer Tony will may be see this post and ad comments of the draper. Like I told him before he owned his, Best Thing Since Sliced Bread.

Sounds like I should be happy with a 40' FD70. Never hurts one's confidence to hear positive reports.
Kinda the opposite of misery loves company.
And yet kinda the same.

Re: Flex Draper Questions?

The secret to the flex draper is in the dealer set-up. Mostly they just put it together wrong.
I have heard good things about the new 40' CIH 2162 flex in soybeans, is that the same model as the FD70 MacDon?

Correct, they are the same thing.
The most common complaint on MacDon headers re: poor performance, on this forum, seems to be usually traced back to set-up. The new CA20 adapter's design is much more forgiving of set-up, but more important, there is very little set-up on the CA20, MacDon had a goal to greatly reduce dealer set-up, and they have.
Actually, on the functionally relationship between adapter and header there's no set-up at all, they are shipped together.
