Re: Strip till sucesses or failures

I honestly think it depends on your soil type and what kinda fields your doing

Down here in southern ill nobody does it...and ive asked why and the boss pretty much said it wouldn't work well

ive learned not to argue lol

they do it alot in northern ill....black dirt and such...but i think you could do anything and raise good corn in that ground..

Re: Strip till sucesses or failures

Have strip tilled in so il for about 8 years. Ridge till before that since 82. Still do a modified ridge system...cultivate most years...then strip till corn on the ridge. Switched to 15" beans a few years ago so now just no till all them. Had a 12 row liquid progressive unit for a few years...went to 16 row and got a new dry progressive. Normally run in fall if works out...but like this year no strips ran so will do them all in spring ahead of planter. No different than running a field cult ahead to prepare seedbed and help dry out ground in the spring...because so il clay soils don't dry out the best in the spring. Been very happy with it and have no plans to change.
