Cummins front main seal is leaking. Wondering how bad a job it is to pull the motor and replace. Does the motor have to come up out the top, or can you just slide it over a ways after removing the radiator? Was just thinking that maybe I could save a little money and do it myself vs paying dealer. We have an overhead chain hoist in our shop, but not enough clearance to lift the motor up and out. Might be able to slide it over, though. Buying a service manual would probably be a good idea. Can I find one on Ebay?

Pull the engine. its the best way i found to do the job. you dont have to take the engine all the way out, If you can pick it up about 6in. you can turn it and do the job on the platform. p.s. most of the time on the early cummins is not so much the seal leaking as the plate the seal sits in leaks, thay used to short of bolts and did not locktight them. if you plan to do this job i would get the updated longer bolts and locktihgt them. Hope this helps ya!
