Just passing along this link for those who haven't seen it yet. My brother-in-law has a rock picker that is built on the same platform as a JD 7720 combine. It's quite the machine.

great machine base looks fairly simple but price is a bit of over kill not many machines pay for themself solely in the fisrt 1000 acres.

Great idea and use of a practical machine. I like how they used common off the shelf components when building it for service down the road. Just glad we have flat fields here with virtually no rocks.

Hey Trader, that price includes an operating crew, and we haven't been able to convince them to work for free yet.

Jason, that piece of land shown in the video sits next to a tillable field. The owner had tried to farm it a few times in the past, but he had given up on it. People told my brother-in-law that he was crazy to even try to pick the rocks from it.

Looks a heck of a lot faster than picking by hand! If there was that many rocks on top, give it a real cold winter or two and you will have that many more though.

That actually hasn't turned out to be a problem. The fields that he's picked so far are in central Minnesota, and they have remained clean after going through 3 or 4 winters. You can't get much colder winter than what they get over there!

I was always puzzled why rocks in the field rise,,, but rocks put in the fencerow sink.... lol

if you could make one to pick 200-300 pound rocks and bigger that would be sweet for us

Well, now, those sound like some pretty big rocks -- what kind of a field do you have over there?

Have you tried a skid steer or an excavator?
