What model?? I've replaced threshing bars in many N-5/N-6 combines that were almost smooth and they were working just fine the previous season in corn under 20% moisture. What do you think you'll gain ?? I'll bet less grain damage with smooth bars. As far as bushels per hr....I doubt you'd see any difference in corn. Probably less cob break-up with worn bars.
It's an N5 I can close it tighter but then it cracks the grain more. I was hoping with new bars it wouldn't Crack but thrash good and could open it back up to 3/4 instead of 1/2 . Another thing is with a 6 row head and dropping everything in a wind row how many kernels to add up to a bushel
I was hoping with new bars might get the corn off the cob faster and not carry so much out rotor. The way it is I have to be tight and Crack corn and need cage fingers in to cut down on loss
Sounds like you need to cut/remove/open up the wires on the concave so it isn't plugged with cob bits. This was a very common problem with the original concave. But, I have no idea what is in your machine.
