We leased a 2008 7010 to harvest the rest of our cornwhich has the round bar grates in it and are having trouble getting small pieces of cobs in the sample & leaving some corn on the cob. Service manager thinks it should only have 2 round bar grates & 2 large wire grates. I was wondering what others are running. Corn is testing 23-24%

TIA,
bbog

I used one round bar last year, corn was a point or 2 dryer, still had some cob pieces. I am going to try 3 this year. Harder to set for a clean sample than the my 2166. Some are running the rotor down to 350 rpm. The wider the concave the more the tumbling of the cobs and the longer they stay in the rotor for pieces. The CNH combine man said that was the biggest problem in 10-20 series, was too wide on the concave.

two round bar one front left and the other in the second right side and you will be fine turn your rotor down to about 300
