Have an R52 and after a period of 10 minutes to 30 minutes the RWA fuse will blow. Tried a bigger fuse and same result. Is the coil or the solenoid the problem? or maybe in the RWA valve assembly itself? The single wire to the solenoid checks out ok.

The cylinder speed and reel lift circuits on the same fuse work fine when the RWA is off so I know its isolated to the RWA circuit. Thanks

There could be a spot rubbed through on the wire that is shorting to ground. I have only seen coils open up never short out but this could be one of those time where I am wrong. You say the single wire checks out OK. How did you check that?

I would remove the wire from the solnoid and measure from the wire end to chassis ground with the switch off. If it shows any reisitance lower than 1000 ohms on a meter then I would say it is rubbed through somewhere and shorting to ground.

Good idea. Yeah, I just did a quick visual inspect on the wire from the solenoid back to the right side of the shaker. I'll get out the meter but it could be an intermittent thing where the machine has to be running. We'll see

Another thought is to feel the wiring to see if it is warm. If a wire is rubbed through but a high resistance to ground, that may take awhile or a high resistance connection. If warm, follow the wire to the cool spot and that will get you to the general area of the problem. The wiring will be warmer towards the positive side. I used this method on headlights and found back connections. The wiring would be cool at the bulbs, but extremely hot at the switch and fairly warm all the way to the bad connection.
