Been running red last decade, and Deere before that, but had some numbers come up from Deere dealer that are hard to resist, they took on some red new combines as well that are very well priced, and now to make a decision

Do not know much about the latest Deere, and have had good luck with case, but could be perswaded

Love the rock able rotor option, don't like rotor belts, like the Deere unloading system over case

Any info on capacity would be great or comparisons .... Thanks

In my experience case needs the rotor that unplugs, deere does not. Deere unload system is very good.

Guys that have run them side by side say they are equal in capacity over the season. Case has better cab.

Another thing I had never liked much is the feed acceraltor belt, do they still run that, or has that bottleneck been removed...we had a custom guy a few years back that said it was a common replacement item

As for the cab, we had a demo 670 a few years back, but it was much louder, seamed the door was leaking, not sure if they changed that around

I just don't get that, ran an STS for 8 years, probably north of 2000 hours, and plugged the feed accelerator...once.
Only plugged the rotor twice.

Mine plugs at least dozen times a year. Replace the belt at least twice. I choose to believe that reason I plug the feed accelerator more than others is that I have twice the crop. Or perhaps its operator related. But after combining with a case for most of last harvest and him not plugging up the front end once I believe it is the combine not the operator. He did plug up the rotor a few times and the p.o.s. straw chopper, but not the front end.

I know Case guys find it hard to believe you don't need a rotor reverse in a Deere because the rotor gives out quite easy on a Case. The belt drive system on a Deere will not give out, it will stall the engine. Which gives an operator (ie:not driver) time to pull back a little. We have run Deeres for the last 12 years and have only plugged the feed accelerator a couple times, and have never plugged the rotors.

Well I have changed more than I want to of feed acceraltor belts, most Deere guys carry a few in the service trucks....

Went with the 9230... Deere sold brother a few s690, so I got a real sweet deal to stay red, we will do lots of our own comparing, both colors loaded up equally

Hard. To give up rock able rotor, and no rotor belt, and cab...cons would be wish I had the Deere unloading system, and four year warranty...

The Deere doesn't need a rock able rotor, it never plugs unless your really stupid. Even if you do plug a Deere it kills the engine, my farm has been Deere STS since 2005 and we plugged a rotor once in that whole time. The 2014 Deeres have all the necessary upgrades but here are a few things that the older machines need upgrading.
The first 60 series STS have a two groove belt drive on the feed acc, everything newer has three groove belt
The later mode 70 series STS have the speed up kit on the discharge beater, the S series come with it.
The 2014 Feed acc is a vast improvement, should almost eliminate plugging, if you have an older machine, upgrade to the new Deere one or from PFparts.

We rented an 8230 during harvest last year and we needed that rock able rotor, cause it plugged so easily. Our Deere 9870s walked circles around it in tough oats.

I would say check your rear beater, if it has the right spring tension or maybe your spring is broke. I had it on a 9770.

I was hoping someone would say a deere only plugs if your stupid! I read so many posts about deere combines plugging and burning feed accelerator belts up and I'm sitting here wondering what in the **** they're doing different then I am. Got my first 9750sts back in 2000 that had the 2 groove feed acc belt and have combined thousands of acres in good and bad conditions and have never plugged it or burned the belt up. Upgraded to an s670 last year with no problems plugging it as well. I'll let ya'll so called operators in on a little secret....if you pull the big orange hydrostat control back the machine will slow down and clear out. The combine doesn't plug itself the person in the seat does!!

Your fairly accurate but put a S series in specialty crops & it's a whole different story. I've personally harvested hemp & canary seed and it can plug the feed acc in a blink of an eye. I imagine central to southern USA wouldn't be familiar with canola swaths, a big pile with some rain on it can do a belt in a hurry.

Try sneaking up on a canola pile that could hide a volkswagen. That's when you test the belts slippage limits.

Here in Canola Country i would never have a Deere, pretty much everyone does half there acres to canola. I ran a 9770 in canola for 3 days over in Oz and plugged that stupid accelerator 5 times! All i hear from Deere guys in this area is how much of a PITA that belt is, but of course they all say "Other than that the combine is great!"

Running that Deere got me in shape, came home and got fat on our Cr

I guess were stupid here in alberta...lol any Deere owner I know Carrys a few spare, worse than canola is tough peas, bring any combine to there knees late at night, strait cutting brown mustard with green stocks also was a acceraltor belt excursion

At least with the case it's a rock and roll.... And maybe it cuts out a bit soon to some, but I like that over broken concave brackets or rotor belts... I guess it's what you like...

We will see soon...
