On a 9550 the separator will stop every now and again while combining. Most of the time when you go to engage it it it will engage for a sec. or two and than stop. It takes 2 to three times to get it too stay running. Some times it won't engage at all and you have to flip it a couple times. I pretty sure its the switch, dealer didn't have one. It wouldn't be the solenoid on the gear case would it. It just started doing this to day. Do you have to take the arm rest apart to replace switch. I pulled the switch out but couldn't find the end of the wire.

i'd start with the switch, i've replaced several over the years. it is pretty easy to get the armrest apart, disconnect the hydro cable from the handle. while your down there, removed the 3 screws in the bottom of the armrest. next flip up the armrest pad and removed the front screw on the hinge. lift the armrest carefully, and then unplug the harness. it is now free and pretty easy to navigate your way around the rest of it.

FarmerJones would you pls send me your "flow chart". I have replaced armrest circuit boards and also switches but am still having problems getting the seperator to engage on the first flip of the switch. Also now the head will not start at all. Addresses show the switches to be working and the safty seat switch also checks ok. Changed the little electric piece on the outside of the clutch. Sometimes have two low speed lights flash when you engage the header and a short beep, sometimes a few more lights and a beep? Had 1 acre to cut when the head just quit running. Then naturally the rain came about half hour later. Still setting in the middle of a big city with one stinkin acre. Hopefully get it goin tomorrow and get outa the 15 acre patch in the city! Thanks in advance!

Your problem may be with the Left Hand harness with a broken wire, check wire number 302 (12 Volt power to solenoid on engine gearcase) and earth is OK. Please also check and make sure engine is charging at around 14 volts as low voltage will cause this and finally check engine relay panel for separator engage and swap relays. If all else fails with someone in cab for safety try hot wiring separator engage solenoid and see if this engages separator

Ended up being a bad switch here to! The address for the switch showed it was working, but when the d-tac man went to another address it showed the switch dropping to only 9 volts at times and kicking out. Then would not fire back up till it happened to to hit 12 volts again. Something so simple yet so frustrating. Glad your going again farmerboy, and thanks for the help and information from everyone else.
Have a good one,
