Just bought the single point hookup kit for connecting a 1020 head to a 1688. The parts guy assured me that it is for a 1688. My understanding is that the reel drive circuit recirculates oil when the head is not attatched. With the new single point block, there is no way for the oil to recirculate that I can see. Anyone know if this will work or will it just blow a hose or something worse?

Thanks for any help

IDK but it sure would have been nice to have on our 2388.We have one on our loader and it sure keeps everything alot cleaner and simplier.

the 1688 is a open circuit hydraulic system, you do need a return otherwise the pump will overheat, As long as you use the reel drive its OK, but on a corn head you should connect the reel pressure and return(2 thick pipes)

It will work, I think, if you make sure to turn off the reel to ground speed and run your reel speed to zero before you unhook it, but if you forget, it will overheat the pump. TORQUE
