i tried cover plates in wheat, with slotted grates. I couldn't get an acceptable sample until i put small wires in the front 2 positions. If you want to keep the machine running best and be able to easily change concaves go with the half concaves so they are easier to handle. I have it down to about 20 minute job to change all 3 with regular size concaves.
