I have fought my 2188 for years and tried to find a good combo for small grain. We harvest hrww and some spring wheat in that 60-90 bpa area. I started with all according to the book, all small wire and slotted grates. I most recently tired one small wire in the front, then two large wire with all the wires in. I ran keystock grates. I think it works ok, at least best i've come up with. I am curious about cover plates, but never tried them, don't know much about them.
