I am trading my 8010 with afx for a 8120, would like to go with small tube rotor but I am concerned about it in corn. One dealer said it would work fine ,another dealer says I will not be satisfied. We are about 50/50 on corn & beans. Hope someone can give me some insight. Thanks!

Stay with AFX in corn. Small tube was primarily designed for rice and is being used in wheat and beans with success, not a definate go in corn however. ST Rotor has to be kept full to do a decent job in corn and it takes a big corn head up front and big yields to do it. Your decision to make.

Definitely stay with the AFX if you have that much corn. We have run the ST rotor in corn in our 7010 for 3 seasons are we are not running it another. Felt we could do a decent job with it the last two years... but this year was a PIA!!!! Even when it works decent it is MUCH less forgiving on settings and you will constantly fiddle with it to make it work good. It does not handle changes in yield worth a crap. With the rain we had this year we had a lot of variance in yield in every pass. If it dropped below 200bpa it was puking corn out the back... but at 6.5mph in 230+ bpa corn it did a nice job (at least in the one number i remember). But some numbers we just could not for the life of us get it to work worth a darn.

You won't be happy with the ST in corn - it was not designed to do corn. It was designed to free up hp and capacity in rice and tough crop cereals and does well there, but it struggles to separate corn adequately and you'll fight rotor loss. Stay with the AFX - it's already what you know and is a much better rotor for corn. Unless you have some rice in your rotation, there is no way I would recommend a small tube for just a corn/soybeans rotation.
