It doesn't surprise me, but I'd like to know if there are other factors at play in how those acres were recorded. Some of it could be zoning changes for land that is still being farmed, but that still doesn't bode well for the future. When I look at the expansion of our smaller cities (Portage, Winkler, Steinbach) and what goes in with the larger centers like Winnipeg and Brandon, the degree of expansion going on in major cities like Toronto and Ottawa will greatly overshadow what's happening here. There is a lot of land going under concrete and pavement.
