still looking at a 2388 ahything wrong with the specialty rotor , it would be used in soybeans and corn only, both high yielding,does the Kile front or stewart front worth the money on a specialty?how does this setup compare to a case ih afx? thanks

We had a 1460 and 1660 with the standard rotor. We now have a 2388 with case afx rotor. The afx is totally superior in beans. No plugging or rotor noise.
In corn we use the round bar concaves on the 2388 with the afx rotor. The grain sample quality is better and this has the lowest separator loss I have ever achieved on any case or international combine including the old 915.
You should make sure you have the 8 straight separator bars on the back of the rotor for corn.

the specialty rotor is great for corn and beans, not as good as std rotor in small grains. works really well in green stem beans- no thumping.

We bought a kile front for a specialty made before the afx (1999 model). I really like the kile front. I put it on with the rotor pulled but that isn't necessary. I think it cost me $864. Worth it also.

do you have to rebalance with the kile front? if so what kind of a job is it ? thanks

I think most companies claim anytime you alter the rotor, a rebalance is necessary. I think it just depends. You can put the kile front on and spin the rotor by hand slowly and find how balanced it is pretty quick. If it needs attention, magnets help to fix the balance to determine how much material is needed to weld on. I think I welded a couple pounds on the front of mine after installation. From the cab you should be able to feel how balanced it is by running the rotor. I am sure others have better suggestions on this as well.
