Needing new bars on specialty rotor on 1660. The last couple years with high yielding corn have had a little rotor loss and was wondering if spiked bars over the grates would help knock some of the corn loose from the trash. I already have every other wire out of concaves. Are there any negatives to this setup(power loss, etc.). I only do corn & sb.

Spikes work great. Haven't seen a downside to using them. The trick is to get the right amount on and in the right configuration. Tried one machine with 2 sraight bars and 4 spikes in wheat, the other with no straights and 8 spikes. First setup worked much better. Same should work for soys. I think 2 more straights for corn will be necessary.
