If we get a -5 frost for half the day I would forget about spraying after. But I'm wondering what to do after the rain if it only freezes -1 for a few hours while the crop is wet and gets back up to 18 on Wednesday. Should we spray or not ?
After any kind of frost does the canola dry up on its own? It's our first try at straight cutting canola. If it didn't rain I was going to spray roundup on the invigor today. It's still fairly green it was late seeded on some new breaking land.

Most of our straight cut is mature enough that it won't be affected by frost. Swathed 200 ac yesterday that was going to be straight cut. It was proper swath timing and I think it is safer in swath w frost on the way

If you include weed control as a benefit, I would go ahead would with the application even after a -5 frost if there's continued growth and perennials in the mix. The canola may become brittle if it's frozen enough though and then warms up. That may make it tricky. Is it an option to swath or is it too ripe already?

We could swath but there are lots of roots/sticks and we were hoping to cut high to avoid them.
It's L-120 and pretty good crop still standing good but it's snowing right now and low of -2 in the for cast for 3 days now.

If it's freezing 3 nights in a row I might just park the sprayer I'm going to go drain it out right now anyways.

Gotcha. i would probably do the same with hazards underneath.
