do any of you guys have problems spreading straw with r75,s and the like.have a neighbour with zero till who is reluctent for me to harvest his crop because he wants an even straw residue the full width of the header, its a36ft off set header i also have the paddles on the spreader 2right foward & 2right back and a fine chop chopper. ithink its ok but more and more farmers are really picky these days.what if any other options are available to get this all important even spread.will the new r86 have the same basic design or an improved version.cheers.

Something was changed on spreader curtain for '10 to get better spread with 40' heads. Only thing I can think of is they shortened it so straw leaving right side wouldn't run into curtain. I would hope he would let you give it a try. Hopefully you have hydralic spreader so you can play with speed from cab. Maybe start with paddles set for maximum spread to right and then slow up RPM to prevent throwing to far. Then if not enough to left retract paddles a bit at a time while speeding spreader back up to maintain spread to right. Otherwise a couple machines have shown up in our area with the dual spreader system similar to R60-70s. I suppose a dual spreader kit may still be available if needed. Don't have any idea what might be on the larger Gleaner proto but I understood spreading was good behind the 40' it was pushing.

thanks for the infomation nddan, will definitely make those adjustments . my r75 is fitted with a hydraulic spreader. i wonder how much they have shortened the curtain, would maby cutting 1 foot off be enough ? can it be removed all together ,it would certainly allow the chaffer veins/ fins to work better instead of 1 half plowing into the back of that curtain.
