Hi

Just about to order an drill, and it comes with either an Topcon Eagle E15 rate controller which i guess is just for controlling the seeding/fertliser rates on the drill, with no guidance

The other option is the Topcon Zynx X20, i presume this is the auto steer controller which hooks up to the Eagle E15 to provide both auto steer and rate controlling.

Our Case Magumn 340 comes with the AFS 700 and the trimble reciever and nav II controller.

We want to go down the RTK route as we are direct drilling on 6" row spacings.

My question is: which auto steer option is better the Topcon X20 or just stick with the AFS 700?

Sticking with the AFS 700 would be easier as one less screen in the cab, and also in a better spot for the operator, but would the Topcon options offer more benefits compared to the AFS 700, like being able to communicate with the drill, and provide us with a seeding map, and also being able to hook into yield mapping data provided by the combine.

Also would the yield map provided by the trimble system (Axial Flow 9120), be able to be inputted into the Topcon system, or are they incompatiable

Thanks

Stick with the brand you get the best dealer support with, we run topcon however now our nearest dealer is 10hrs drive away, so we are more or less on our own.

If you are happy with the Pro 700 try to stay with them and trimble. You already have a start so when you'll want to improve your system everything will match together. It's easier for everyone to get use to one type of system. The same antenna will fit all your display and you could also use you autopilot in different machines. If you start with 2 systems you'll end up not using one anymore in the future. If you go topcon, figure that all your next investment will be topcon. That's my 2 cents from working with deere and trimble in the past and now only trimble and pro600/700.

Very easy to sort yeild maps to perscription maps and then export in AFS to shape file then use the topcon program to convert to VRC working fill. Can inport the shape file into the X20 and do it all there or, load the topcon program on the computure with AFS and convert from shape file to VRC file read to load straight in to X20. Ether way works and is easy.
