Have a 24' str cut (older style pre-300 series ) gleaner head. Also have a 922 JD flex head (can be locked up). Both fit on my Gleaner L3. Which one would you use to do winter wheat. Always used the str cut. I think I was told by someone that the flex heads aren't really designed for cereal crops-better designed for soys. Before I experiment with the flex head what thoughts are out there.

I don't know about on an L3 but on my R62 an R70 we run 525 flex heads locked up with rigid locks and haven't had any trouble, that's what most everyone around here does with both red and green machines also

Back in the 90's we used our 30 ft. flex heads one summer on wheat harvest, didn't do to good, the next summer took the wheat heads, never tryed the flex' again. That was on 9610's and three months of wheat. Local farmer with small wheat farm, flex heads will do.
