We are using a 20 foot 900 Series AGCO stripper head attached to an IH 1460.
The stripping action is good even in lodged wheat. Feeding problems occur when the head is lowered all the way down. In this position the feeder chain does not accept the volume of crop as the stripper reel in this lowered position is bringing in excessive straw. The feeder faceplate is in the "back" position allowing maximum feeder drum exposure in the stripper head. The feeder drum is in the "top" (corn) position. Back-feeding is occurring in such quantity that the second from left screendoor atop the stripper head flies open. This obviously slows forward travel. The back-feeding occurs when the lodged crop is approached forward, backward or sideway.
My questions are:
#1 What might correct this problem.
#2 Does anyone have experience with this header/combine combination?
