We all know the wires in the STS concaves are too high which causes the poor thresh in certain wheats, such as Intrepid we grow here in western Manitoba,

Rather than using the concave cover plates Deere recommend, I'm considering having Case-IH style Interruptor Bars made to fit the STS Concaves.

I'd like to hear any comments anyone may have.

Thanks

Consider what happens if you install interrupters -- the crop needs to have room to be retarded by the faces and leading corners of the concave crossbars -- interrupters will decrease the space between crossbars by more than 1/2 the existing distance. Effect is to present a slick top area on the concave which will allow the crop to carry over without threshing. Even though you are probably running concaves very tightly at present at least the fillers will still slow whitecapping. Best answer is still to add height to the concaves crossbars to a depth of 3/8". Hope this is reasonably clear. email if you'd like -- [email protected]
