Do any of you wheat gurus have experience with round bar concaves in wheat? I only run a couple hundred acres of SRW a year and don't think I can justify the small wires. Do the filler plates help? Any special settings to help minimize loss? It seems like I put more out the back of the machine than I should.

You could GET BY adding filler plates. But, you're better off with the small wire concaves due to the aggressive pattern that will thresh wheat better. I know it sucks having to pay extra for another set of concaves. All combines from factories should come included with two sets of concaves...one small grains and one fall crop concave sets.

hfh, thanks for the info. What about Loewen helical concaves? I wondered if they would do a decent job in both wheat and fall crops? Maybe I'm dreaming.
