Just installed a Maurer bin extension on my 2188. Tried to fold it down in what I thought would be the best way....WRONG ANSWER! 10 minutes later after fussing and cussing, the pile of metal looks like something that crashed and burned! It's not much lower than when it's folded out.

For you guys that have'm, tell me the easy steps to get it down. Do you have to work from both ends, I mean put down some from the roof of the cab and the rest from standing on the engine compartment lid or what? Dang sure can't be in the bin and fold it all down......not small enought to squeeze up beside the incline auger.

Help please!

I have no experience with the ones with the ring on top, but for the basic extension I have found the best way is to fold the sections in pairs. I believe I start with the front and back, then the corners and finally the sides.. I always end up standing on the bubble up auger during the process. It would probably work in any order, but the key is to do the one opposite of the one you just folded. Hope this helps.

I went 4-3-1-2-8-7-6-5 and still had a pile of metal. I've seen combines in the dealers shop with Maurer extensions and they seem flatter than my mess! Will try your picture diagram next time it's out of the shed.

I fold mine down just like was mentioned in the reply before mine, I have two different styles of extentions made by the same company that you have on your machine. One style folds down flat, very flat, the other style does not fold as flat but it is still lower than when it is in the "work" position.

ayars660....you mentioned you have 2 styles of extensions made by Maurer. When I bought, I was not given an option on styles. What style or model number is the one the folds real flat? This thing looks as I stated earlier, like it crashed and burned! Just a pile of sheetmetal, kinda heaped in the middle! Might add this does NOT have the 4inch extension on top of the fold out.
