USDA predicts higher ending stocks across the board. Projected corn crop would be third largest in history at 166.8!

What are your thoughts? I get worked up over it every year! Just start high and adjust as needed. Would not be so bad but they would never admit if they were wrong

The government wants cheap food for the people. Plain and simple. USDA has no clue in what is actually occurring out here. Planting intentions report is nothing more than a dart at the board. They release the "planted acres" report before the crops are fully in the ground. Why not wait until we certify our acres and get the actual plantings? Can't the FSA and the USDA communicate with each other? Then there is the good old "trend line yields." Yep, and exponential increase in yields every year that has only been obtained in one year out of the last twenty, but that doesn't mean anything. Just it back and watch them screw with the numbers this year and scratch your head, don't let it piss you off. Save the anger for when you see your tax return, mine should be done this week. Might have to start drinking again...

Problem is that my grocery bill has not changed nor will it, I guess it is Waltons turn to make a killing! USDA has no foresight and thats what gets me, they have the control with their doped up projections to at least make a happy medium for all of us

well the upside is that it should be good for calf prices this fall. Profit for 2 years in a row, it will be hard to take, after a life time of getting by.

As a grain farmer, there can be a lot of crop problem from now and when you sell your crop. The drought in the US and Australia, may not be far away, south America bugs and heat, Russia, who knows.

Let hope for an average crop world wide!!!!!!

I don't doubt they are correct. We are getting better at raising food. If they pay enough for the food, we get better faster. We can afford to raise it properly. It is the price roller coaster ride we are on. Why the down ride often seems to have such a slump on the bottom I am not all sure. I hope it doesn't this time.

USDA reports went from mediocre to just plain stupid since the spring of 2013! They start out high and ignore everything going on, seem to forget all of the prevent plant, some how keep pulling "record crop" out of the hat, I have been buying equipment in various places over the last few years and have not seen anything to be overly proud of. I have been traveling to buy equipment because when I get 300 miles from home the used equipment prices are 30-50% less, it is obvious that when the used equipment market is this poor that the money is not there. Such a great bean crop last year? I never once heard any yield contest results, I have friends from all over the state and no one was proud of there bean crop, corn was pretty good but seemed to be sporatic. I can think of at least 10 states that haven't had a good crop 2 out of the last 6 years, and it makes me wonder how we could go from having such low supplies to a seemingly endless stock pile in two years, there is no way and I just can't see what they are trying to prove.

There is way more to this than I understand but they are trying to tie oil to this mess in a fight between transcanada and opec, there is no conceivable reason how we could suddenly end up with such a large supply of oil seemingly overnight.

Call me crazy but I am screaming conspiracy! This has something to do with Obama's homeland, if anyone didn't know he ain't from here

Don't feel bad I have my tin foil hat on too.

I can't believe that you doubt good ole Barry isn't looking out for our best interests...

Not that I think the spineless republicans are much better. Useless Boehner... pretty sure that should be pronounced bo-ner not bay-ner. Yep, he is a useless boner.

I'm so sick of always hearing "record" for everything! Record crops, record prices. Every year is "record" . The best part is they start talking about this before anyone has pulled their drills out of the snowbank!! (well here in Canada anyways!) And yes Stats Canada does the same thing as the USDA so it's like this everywhere.

Its funny how its ok for them to start high before the drill comes out of a snowbank but when we go to the bank and give them our promote our operations we have to treat it like we will have record low yields with record low prices

Every year does have a chance to be a record year for some crop, but doesn't happen that way most of the time. Why don't they just predict normal yields for once and see what happens?

They have no clue what's going on and seem to love keeping the price down.
