yes, small wire concaves will work just fine, I honestly have no idea why it recommends the others

We move from wheat right to oats...only internal part that we change is taking the cover bands off of the concave i.e. we have the 1,2, and 5 hole covered or 1,2,3, and 5. We take those off. I can only remember one time that we stuck a couple back on in tough conditions 1 & 3 if I recall correctly. Seems to work just fine. You'll have to refer to the settings in the book and adjust to what works for your conditions. Be easy on the wind if they are light oats.

good luck

My 9670's have small wire concave's in them and I have some oats to thrash, noticed the book calls for a larger concave. my question is will the small wire concaves get me by ?

Thanks for the tips , I was pretty sure they'd work. our oats run heavy so the fan shouldn't be a problem . Do you swath your oats or direct cut ?
