Want to know if anyone has mounted a toolbox on a R series and where you put it. Getting tired of trying to put everything under buddy seat .Thought I could make something this winter to mount outside close to ground. Any suggestions.

I had the same dislike with tools and stuff in the cab. I mounted my tool box on a r62, of the chassis using a guard bracket that was there. The bracket is a c shaped and a bit flimsy when the tool box is mounted, but there is a 1'' hole drilled in sheet metal above chassis under the sieve pulley, make an upside down L shape bracket, weld to tool box frame weld a 1/2'' bolt on the end of L shape and fasten to the combine.
The bracket extends out under the main drive from engine, you need to make it long enough to keep it safely away when opening the lid from the drive belts. There are precious little places to mount a toolbox but this area is as good as i could find.Hope you can understand this

Re-read your location; G'day Matt!

Go to "Gleaner R62 photos". second row of photos.
What we call [ in Australia ] an" ammo box" ex WW2 vintage is mounted as a good solid tool box on the back of the header for very quick and immediate access when dismounting from the cab.
A fair bit of thought originally went into the location and it has stayed in that location through a series of the various Allis / Agco headers / combines for well over 3 decades past.

The piece of 8 or 10"auger tube alongside carries the pressure water fire extinguisher for a first grab in case of fire.
Another foam extinguisher is mounted just outside of the engine bay door at head height where it can be grabbed from within or from outside of the engine bay if there is a fire in the bay and another foam extinguisher is mounted just outside the cab on the outer panel of the grain bin again for fast access in case of fire.
