What are the differences between these machines other than age and horsepower? Any differences in performance and reliability?

Only big difference could come if a 96 had early S3 rators or late style ones. They will thresh the samebut parts replacement cost more on early S3 than gen2 S3 rotors. The rotors can be changed out to newer style ones. Otherwise durring the TR97 they changed from the Ford 7.8L to the 7.5L tractor Genesis engine. Some other refinements meant to make operation and change over from crop to crop easier. Mainly small changes nothing drastic. Reliability is more of a function of how the machine was taken care of. The major components are all equaliy reliable.

If its not already installed, might want to think about installing the weld-in stainless steel floor auger trough liner in the grain tank.

Early 96s had 3208Ts I believe. During the 96s there was a host of parts changes too.

There are some cab differences too -electronic actuators vs levers and a buddy seat came in. I forget which models this changed at. Someone knows though...
