We need to change the rub bars on our Tr98. Do we have to pull the rotors to do this job? Was thinking that we could replace bars in place, then run rotors to check for vibrations. Worse case scenario is we have to pull rotors to balance. Can we balance rotors without pulling them? What are your thoughts on this? TIA

there are usually shims under the rub bars that should go back in the same position otherwise the rub bars will have to be reset to the same concentricity. also the H frame should be checked and centered if necessary. no, you can't balance the rotors in the machine they have to be removed to do it properly. make sure you use new bolts and that they are torqued to the factory specs.

Rub bars went in good, run it up yesterday to 1600 rpm with not much vibrations, no need to balance at this point. Had my concaves built up also, should be like a new machine in wheat now. Thanks for the pointers guys.
