I am just getting started grain farming on a small scale and have been looking at a TR96 with 2800 engine hours and about 2600 Separator hours. It looks like it has had good maintenance. Is this a good combine to start with to take off about 200 acres of Canola. Wheat and Barley?

Re: TR96

A well maintained Tr 96 will do you fine. If you spend some time on it before harvest before you hit the field. A couple things to look for is the year and engine. stay away from the cat 3208, the ford engine on my 93'tr96 is bulletproof ,similar hours and uses 1 litre of oil ever two days. The cats are under powered. The 1993 TR96 is pretty much the same combine as the 94 Tr97 Had both in the field and their capacities were about the same .
The Tr96 love canola and Barley.

Where are you located I have my 93 Tr 96 for sale 1976T/2700E hours. Has VSF and Terrain Tracer, Redekop chopper 971 pickup head w/ rakeup, also have 1 93' 971 rigid SC header with HC pickup reel. Would take $25,000 for it all.

I am in SE SASK.
PM me if interested.

Re: TR96

It seems strange to me that a combine would have 2800 engine hour and 2600 separator hours. Usually there are about 3 engine hours for every 2 separator hours. The TR 96 would be a good combine for you.
