Will I be happy with a 07 Cr9040 with the 9l cummins engine. I am thinking about trading my 04 Cr940 with the 7.5 Genesis engine. Dealer told me I would have more power but I have seen complaints about the 9l cummins. I have also seen that the 07 9060 has more power than the 9040. Is the engine the same between the two and just "turned down" ?

I have run both and the only thing that I would say is that the cummins will burn more fuel then the old motor but you will have enough power to run a 8 row corn head and 25ft flex and we have some with 30 draper heads on and works just fine

what are you threshing with it? in 08 they cranked up the max rotor speed which really helps if you have any hard to thresh wheat

10 row 30 corn and a 30 bean platform. Was told that 9040 and 9060 engines are the exact same. Might chip it at a 10 to 15% gain and be about what the 9060 has from factory.

the 9040 and 9060 are identical combines but the 9040 has just a few less ponies. We have ran a 9040 for the last two years and had a 960 and a 940 before the 9040. All of them have been great combines for us. The 940 and 960 used less fuel compared to the cummins engine we had in the 9040. the 9040 was burning 13-14 gallons per hour running an 8 row corn head at about 4mph. We recently sold our 9040 and just ordered another new 9040 for next year. We priced a 9060 and they wanted almost 30k more for the 9060 vs. the 9040 so when we get it we are just going to put a chip on it and have more power in the end than a stock 9060 would have. Its the same story for the 9070 and 9080.
