I have moved my ez steer to my combines, and have noticed its changing lines/satellites? quite a bit.. and it shifts my line 30-42". Its super annoying, how do I fix in on one satellite or is there another reason for my problem?

(Also forum tip, there should be a section on guidance)

Is the antenna close to the hopper? do you have a hopper top by chance? I think the 500's have a section in the menu that you can select "favor accuracy" may help as it will pull from selected satellites.

What is your DOP value typically when they happens?

How many minimum satellites are you set for?

Does it shift the line in the middle of the day when you have been running it? or are you talking when the machine fires up for the first time that day and it is 30-42" off?

they both have hopper toppers and both are on the roof of cab close to front.

DOP value.. I don't know this,

Don't know how many satellites it is set for, but yesterday when I was checking info, it said 7 sats, then later 8 sats.

It shifts in the middle of the day, several times. when this is on the seeder tractor, it doesn't shift this often, nor does is shift this much..

Okay well antennas seem to be far enough ahead to not be bothered from the hopper tops.

DOP is the Dilution Of Precision, higher that value, the less accurate it will be. Basically the reason that value will be higher is because of obstacles in the way ( hopper topper, trees, buildings, etc)

But in a wide open field you should be fine, but it is located on the info screen where you go to see how many acres you have done. might be listed as HDOP.

Okay I think the stock settings for minimum satellites is 7, or maybe 6, been a long time since I always changed ours. Either way sounds like it isnt catching onto enough satellites, ours usually hit 10 or 11 I think by mid day. Remember the more satellites it can lock onto, the better your pass to pass accuracy will be.

I got rained out today, and have a trimble 500 in one combine in the yard, so I will play around with it and try and remember what I did to improve ours a bit, and I will get back to you if no one else has chimed in.

I've run an Ez Guide from trimble lots and have a newer 750 model, the old ez guide would decide to wander about 3:30 or 4 everyday. Not sure why but you could almost set your watch to it, my newer 750 does not do this. I played with that setup in a lot if different machines and would have it spot on, then it would start the swerve for a couple hours. Sometimes if I rebooted it would improve. It was frustrating. I usually run my trimbles set to favour accuracy in the sat menu..... I realize I'm of little assistance here! Lol. Good luck!
