The gear shifter in my TV 145 just quit working. I am unable to shift out of the gear I am in. However if I shut the tractor off and restart it, it will be in the gear position that the switch is in. Anybody else have this problem?

Is your speed readout working. It will do that if the tractor gets no input speed.

I would then check to make sure safety switches are working namely seat switch and park brake switch. If that is working I would then check volts at shifting solenoid. 3rd gear should have full 12 volts, 2nd will have less and I believe 1st should only have about 3 volts. If the voltages seem right it will probably need a new shift solenoid.

Check the wire connections on the module on bottom of tranny , ours get pulled off occasionally and it acts like you say .

Thanks Prairie Boy. It was my seat sensor that was unplugged. Working fine now.
