4 months and over 150,000 bu of drying, majority of it being canola there is silence in the yard tonight. Not an electric motor and diesel engine of any sort running. It has provided us with lots of time to ponder the offseason upgrades to make the drier more operator friendly. We have never used the drier to the extent that we have this year. It was always more of a backup than a necessity. Having used it now 3 years in a row it is time to fix it up and get all the safety switches and everything electrical working properly.

Has anyone done the Western Grain drier change to their new controls system. We are looking at replacing and upgrading all the electrical components so that it will run like a new drier. I see they have a system that will allow complete control from my iphone. Anyone run this?

What would you like to know about upgrading an old Vertec? I've upgraded the panel, wiring, sensors, added a cooling fan, added tiers, added stiffeners, upgraded burner, played with pulley sizes, Metering rolls motor, I think that's it? Utility auger with hanger bushings was the best money I ever spent. Ran about 200,000 bu through the dryer each of the last 3 years. Kept up to the combines. Drank whiskey and watched the neighbours dry grain for 2 months.

I'm wondering this too. I'm curious to know how much gas savings you guys got from installing the new burner? They claim about 60% savings in gas. Also switching from propane to natural gas, has anyone noticed a savings there as well?
