random patches of this in areas of a paddock that was wheat last year.

I've asked my a local agro, tried google, but cant find anything to see what it is. Ive never seen it before, dad hasn't either. Thought it was some kind of fungus, but looks more like eggs, honestly dont know at all haha. Its been a very wet last 2 months, and warmer than normal.

We've seen similar before, but not like this.

hoping some one can help, very curious to what it actually is.

Scrape some off and put them into a ziplock bag throw them on a window sill and see if they hatch.

i have seen similar stuff like this up here, but in small circles on planks out in the open from a certain moth. it really seems deliberate if you look at some sticks are covered and some are completely devoid. But you guys have some serious bugs down there, that would keep me up at night if we had them here.

Looks like a type of slime mold, shouldn't be anything to worry about.

they are dry to the touch, dont squish and aren't powdery or anything.

will have to keep checking and yous know. just really odd

Dam I've seen those before, I'm sure they are eggs of some sort but can't for the life of me remember what! It's gunna drive me nuts till someone identifies them!

There are hundreds of different species of slime mold. That looks similar to some pics on Wikipedia.

I don't know of any insect that lays that many eggs in only one spot, and only on dead plant matter, but I'm not an entomologist. I still say slime mold.

My agro says your right okpanhandle although has never seen it here around where we are.

cheers everyone, was so unsure what it was. Has been a very wet start to the season here, 150mm last few weeks and temps around 30c degrees. so they must be thriving.

looks like panhandle has the best option so far. I have seen stuff like that but only in small clumps. I always thought it was spider eggs.

I'll have to look in my books when I get home. The weather conditions are perfect for mushroom activity.
