need advice on which rotor is best for R72, grow mostly wheat, barley, sunflowers, some soybeans, and corn. Went to ag expo in Minot ND today and looked at the precision farm parts rotor, looked good, but like the way the bison looks too. Both have good points according to salesmen of course. Would just like to here from someone who has tried them.

We harvest wheat, corn, and sorghum what works best for us is the standard rotor and the highwire concaves, the high wire are good for corn they don't crack the cob up as much. Never harvested soys or sunflowers. Good luck and God bless

thanks for asking this question. since it's not likely that someone has run the pfp and bison side by side. for those who have these rotors, how did your combine change when you installed either the pfp or bison or for that matter the cdf or sunnybrook. did you gain capacity in some conditions and lose in others? how about grain loss and sample? thanks

we had 2 R62's and 1 72. One 62 had a bison and the other p3 from factory the 72 had cdf. Before the bison the 62 had a gen 2 sunny brook. The bison is a little hard to get whitecaps out of red spring wheat but not real bad. We did nd dans feaderhouse conversions on all three after being completely frustrated with them. In my opinion any rotor works in a gleaner. Our biggest problem with gleaner was feeding. If you can't feed it, it doesn't matter what rotor you have it is still a useless machine. To gleaners credit it was easy to work on. We were gleaner owners from 1968 to 2007. We went to cat and so far just love them, no more plugging the feeder every 100 feet. Just me 2 cents worth.

As with the bison they are a little harder to set to get the white caps out. Like the bison and sunnybrook they run very smooth, They also are heavier and can slug lumps through better but if you plug them in oats you almost have to pull the rotor to unplug them.

Went with a PFP rotor in a 98 R52,Gave Mike all the dimensions of the rotor and he made it perfect to fit! Used in beans and corn and will in oats this summer, very pleased with the job it does, went this route cause heard many complaints that a cdf was not worth the $ for the job it did . jl
