So this last rain caught us with our pants down. Got about 600 acres of spring wheat that is gonna be out of the ground before we get our burn down done. Fields have some big stink weed and small broad leaves coming. What's my best option to spray as soon after emergence as possible and to control for as long as possible? Dicamba and Everest for the oats that will come later? Or what do you guys use in a situation like this. Or do I need to think about spraying twice in crop?

I'd love to hear input on this as well, we had one 80acre piece of barley that was up on sat when seeded on wed! Glad the new drill worked good, but gonna be a little messy this year. Still a surprising amount of volunteer fall rye from 2 yrs ago in this filed...

Have sprayed express sg on 1 leaf wheat before. Had a carpet of volunteer canola to take care of. Not sure about barley. If weed pressure not too bad wait a week. Lots of products can be used at 2 leaf.

Put tracks in it and spray it. We always pre emerge spray..... on 1000 acres 3 years ago we didn't because we thought we erred making too many tracks... big mistake. Make the tracks and pre emerge spray and don't look back my friend! Leave a text strip or two and see at harvest . Once seen 50 bpa differences on barley pre emerge spraying vs. Not....

Not gonna happen had 3 inches of rain on top of ground that was pretty much too wet to seed anyway. Wouldnt make it 50 feet with a ground rig now. Gonna have to spray after its up. Ground is warm enough that it is emerging in 5 days so my time is pretty much up.

We used buctryl m at the one leaf stage to get volunteer canola and early broad leaf weeds last year. We then spayed again at the 4-5 leaf with a broad leaf and wild oat spray. I was very impressed on how well the buctryl worked. It got everything that was there. I used a lot of water - 10 gallons or more per acre. These field were very clean at harvest and yeilded great. Early removal is the key. Try to get a spray that works at the one leaf stage.

I was wondering if a guy could spray twice without hurting the crop. Sounds like you had good luck.
