I was wondering if anyone knew how to find information on how many sickle section blades go on the different size grain headers for john deere? Thanks

Traditionally there are 4 sections per foot on a sickle bar. Older John Deere headers will have these three inch sections. Most of the newer John Deere units use a 4 inch section and have a 4 inch stroke on the knife drive so they will only have 3 sections per foot. Most often these sections have 4 cutting edges rather than two.

End sections are often special as are some in the overlap in a double drive unit. Not really the answer you want, but it will get you close.

If it's a JD header (which I'm guessing it is, since this is in the Deere section), you can try "jdparts.com". Not sure if they give an exact number for each header length or not...

try talking to the partsman at the counter.... I'm not sure about combine headers but I'm pretty sure the swather header info includes the number of sections when I pick them up.
