After alot of battles with deere combine and waranty we are looking to change color and we heard good comments of the gleaner and we are satisfied of the agco service (Fendt). after looking at their website which is not the best, theres the R series and A series. i heard the A series is the same as a M-F and Fendt axial. We currently have a 9560 bullet rotor that was told that will perform like our old 9650STS but theres nothing close. we would go back to a class 6 combine. we might include in the deal the new fieldstar 2 with auto-guide RTK which is compatible with fendts.

we grow 1000 acres and we do about 800 acres outside. we harvest barley, oats, wheat, soybean and corn. straw is some issue for some customer but their getting used to the STS

I have an A series. Some computer program problems which caused us to have a problem with lack of power. I think that is now resolved, I hope.

The A series is a very simple design, not near the belts, chains, sprockets and bearings to replace as on the R series. If I were doing it all again I would still go with the A series.

My biggest complaint with an R is how many feet of feeder chain there is and the small feeder house they have. I'm glad AGCO builds both machines as we have a choice. I wish AGCO would have stayed with the Cummins engines but they now use their own engines.

You may want to check on an outside source for a guidances system. When AGCO came out with the system on the combine in 2009 I think it was $12,000 or $15,000. Trimble was 1/3 of the price and works just fine. We also can use it in the tractor where the AGCO system stays in the combine.

We have ran a gleaner combine ever since i can remember. we are currently running a 2004 R75 and we just love it. We like how simple it is which makes it easy for us to service. As far as having more length of feeder chain, that is true. But an advantage of that and the R series is the rotor can be taken out of the machine in about 20-30 minutes since you dont have to remove the feeder house.

R series hands down. There are no issues witht he feeder house especially after 08. Accel roll and distrubution auger are a must. THese deliver crop to the shoe like nobody else can. A very very simple machine and quite honest the most efficent

I have an R series, and love the simplicity of it. My R-62 will do very well for being considered and older machine. The loss is very little, sample is clean with little damage. My only gripe is blowing the fins out on the deutz. But that is only an issue on '93 and older machines. The simplicity makes repairs and maintenance so much easier. Despite the turmoil at AGCO, I would have a hard time changing colors. Just make extra sure your dealer offers adequate support to keep you running when you need it. Compared to a deere, you will think half the parts are missing!

I would go with the R series, we have ran them for many years now. The feed chain actually gives the crop a more even flow into the rotor with plenty of time to be evenly spread for a smoother feed. I don't know your price range, but a newer R66 would be great with the new updates they have out now. The R65s were great machines as well I ran one this fall and loved the machine.
Easy to work on, maintain, service, operate, more efficient, and lighter on the pockete book. I wish you well and good luck.

God Bless,

Traxtermaster, understand you frustrations with Deere, just an FYI, with AGCO's shaky status and ambitious actions to eliminate dealers I would keep a jaundiced eye out. It is my belief that the Gleaner is the most capable machine on the market, and when tweaked, will outperform nearly all class 8's. But with current management actions, the future is questionable. Just be careful!

All I'll say is I have ordered a new 7120 about 6 weeks ago and I have al ready had more interaction with their corporate service staff in those 6 weeks than I had with AGCO over the past 20 years. They actually almost seem to appreciate my business. A huge change from the AGCO corporate staff.

The same thing happened when we quit trading White planters and went to Kinze.

I think the Massey product is good, but in our area resale is a killer, dealers are virtually non existant and parts are pretty tough to get as well. In some areas that brand is much stronger and would be more appealing to me if I was in one of those areas.

Don't like it but, hammer; hit the nail right on the head (if yo know what I mean) he right live with it or go to your IH board. Must be some intrest in AGCO as you are still on the GLEANER board. And orange and lookinglass, you gus think you can persuade guys to not buy AGCO???? You are actually spiking the intrest in the company all this crap you think you know. I mean no Gleaner combine after the company announces they are comming with a new updated version. Give me a break its not like the orange tractor, there is no other color of an R series other than silver. So stick it with your comments jump on the other boards show your ignorance to them or do you really want them people to know how you are

Don't think I've ever said the Gleaner was not a good and well built machine. In fact from a machine standpoint I would probably still have one. My point has been that you can have the best product on earth, but if you cannot service it, support it and keep parts to it in a timely manner you still have a loser. That is what AGCO has. Yes you say the Gleaner will be forever....maybe you're right. But I was invited to the DT product introduction and heard the AGCO CEO's say that the AGCO tractor was the cornerstone brand and would lead them into the future. We see how that went. AGCO in the midwest is on the decline.

OMG you guys still whining about Agco, you acting like spoiled kids that didn,t get their way for the first time. The Gleaner design is here to stay,Agco is actually in better shape than most of the competion when it comes to debt to equity ratios and they have just got a good rating on wall street for condensing their lines.Instead of complaining buy a Massey and some Agco stock and you will be better off,Orange is DEAD.
