one of my customers put bands on 2,3,5,6 and put separator grate covers all the way around the first grate, he said his dockage went down considerably

The answer I have gotten is you just can't get them all out. According to the elevator guys they say the older conventionals are having better luck getting them out than the guys with the new combines. don't know that to be fact but that is what the guys were telling me. They said they were seeing dockage up to 7% from some of those combines. We were getting about 2% out of our conventionals.

We have had the same problems with our spring wheat as well and its really sad that we have to use all those filler plates. It just kills the capacity of the combine. I have heard of guys using extra fine concaves with no filler plates and that seems to work but its alot more expensive.
