was going to go to a 12 row but dad thinks we should stay with something that fits with the planter. That brings us to this question will a 585r handle a 16-30 in 120-150 b/a corn? Also does anyone know what year the jetstream cleaning became standard on the 500 series? TIA

Pretty sure all 500's have jetstream but I could be wrong. Yes it will handle the 16 row.

We run a 16 on our 585r.

The capacity is there for the 585 to handle a 16 row corn head. The issue you run into is the extra weight. The warranty can be voided on the Class 8 machines if a 16 row is used. Alot of guys will add a 16 row after the warranty runs out. Jetstream was always standard in the 58x's and 59x's. I believe it was in 2008 they introduced it into the 57x's.
