C'mon Joblow,
its time for an update on the Claas 980 V's the Krone V12's on the California silage run!!!
Image

See you have a Krone V12 for sale, are you going with another one for the 2010 season?

Also,
how did things go with the QC580 head?
Do you think there is good potential for this direct cut head in NA?

KVF if you get the yellow power source installed into those things, we will send the truck immediately

Bigtruck The 980 does a good job. It has not been without troubles though. The output is a little better than the v-12, but there are more horses in that shed. So it can outrun the v-12 in a drag race. Interesting aside from that, we demo'd a 9090 new holland and it was a dead heat between the v-12 and 9090. We made sure that all the settings were matched up too, somewhat to the dislike of the salesman. We have been trying to update our fleet of heavy hitters a little so we have had all 3 krone's for sale just trying to push the oldest one first.

The 580 has performed well. We have 4 being built right now. A couple of them are finished and awaiting the boat, and the other two. I think there is a lot of potential here in Ca. The deere guys are really interested because they have not had a mower head for their machines. The claas guys seem to like what they see but they have had a mower head. It catches their eye because its ready to hit the field unlike the claas that needs to have the cutterbar cut off paddle thrown away and reattach the cutterbar to make them work good here.

Ohiocutter, the kitty will not be there. The new paint job it needed canned that idea. Too bad huh. It would have been cool to have it there for sure.

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

Why dont you start with how your Krone dealer tries to **** you all the time or how many problems you have had with the Krone Accelerators the past 3 years. Ohiocutter you may have a decent dealer but I would seriously doubt that joblo will say the same for his. But I am willing to bet that His Claas dealer is better than your old one by miles.

What are you going to do IF Krone ever builds a combine........

Interesting about the FR9090,
does it have the Euro Iveco V8 motor?
Many FR's about Cali?
The two FR9080's local to me both had Cat engine trouble this season and they where both 08 models.

Yeah the 9090 has the iveco. It runs good as far as I could tell. It sounds like its going to blow up because the way the sound resonates from the muffler, but thats just a muffler problem. There are quite a few fx's and fr's in the valley. I would not really know about problems as they are all pretty much 2 hours north of us. Althogh I have a pretty good relationship with the faorage guy at the delership and he is usually straight up with me and he has not mentioned any engine problems.

On a side note, if there are issues with cat they get resolved quick. We had an injector problem on our C-18 Claas and it was fixed within hours not days.

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

hey junior, you re right the dealer sucks but a Claas does break too. I met so many Claas 494 customers last year that were pissed of about all the little probs those machines had. So nobody is perfect and I bet the 2009 and 2010 Krone BIG X are capable of doing a good job.

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

I never said that A Claas doesn't break. But this blind bashing of a machine is ludicrous. Xdriver so your saying you think it is acceptable to have to spend another $500000 just to see if something is better or not? Really? Its called throwing good money after bad. Here is a NEWS FLASH IF you bought a first year ANYTHING you deserve all the problems.

Junior, you are getting way to uptight about a couple of inside jokes!! Maybe you should just CHILL

Please don't try to chase me down, I cannot run too fast since I am getting so fat. Yes we are lucky to have a great Krone dealer, as you are to have a good Claas dealer. Hopefully somebody will help fix all of our dealer problems so we can choose which chopper we want by quality of machine instead of dealer quality (or lack there of). And on the question of a Krone combine, I guess it wont be a concern unless they build one better than my Lexion. You know I like to run the best

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

Hayman I thought it was ok. The 9090 used the same fuel the 9080 does but you get more done with the 9090. Definitely want the dual drive/ seperate hyd motor for feedrolls and header. I would like to see mad jag- extreme liners. Our local dealer has been working on getting that done. We need chrome plated kp rolls, there are aftermarket companies that have them, but it would be nice to have them standard. This machine has a ton of nice little gadgets that come in handy.

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

Chrome Kp rolls are great for longevity if they are chromed right. To hard and they will break teeth off. If you are a custom harvester the chrome will allow the last customer of the year to still get a good processing job. Joblo definately needs chrome since his customers want him to pull the corn plant out of the ground and chop the roots too. Dirt and all!! Right Mr. Blo

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

Yes it does make more tonnage, both from the dirt and all that expensive austrian steel you put in the truck.

I heard you ordered a BIG lump of german steel and a driver recently?? Guess youre pretty happy with that one?? Guess some others are pretty un happy with that one!

Ohio cutter, i think my 30 day payment terms are well overdue, i owe you some green stuff and i dont mean silage, let me know and ill send it your way.

What do you get up to in June?

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

Im glad we are square, ive done enough to ruin the "special" relationship our countries have without causing an international dispute over ticket costs.

April sounded like a great idea until i realised that two inconsiderate people had invited me to weddings that month, one on the 17th and the second on the 30th, not really time between before or after, so that finished that one.

Second half of june and july would work good for me, trouble is thats quiet for the entire world! Maybe i could do some debt collection? Start off with my charm, if that doesnt work ill just kick off, if they press charges ill leave the country!! Dont think Obama would extrudite me for that would he?? All part of the modern harvesting experience!! If it makes you feel better thats the same all over the world.

On the sassy massey front i was chatting with a chap with a 4900 in ok but he wasnt really into the whole export bit, if it turns up at your place on day, you'll know why. Trust you'll be working on getting ready for the wayne county fair with yours!

I thought they wre all big german lumps of steel. I guess that one is from belgium right

You have me confused on the austrian steel though. BTW I will only be happy if that thing performs, if not it can go away and I will be content with that.

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

Matt, I believe that you and I are square. You might owe the California cutters some money, I settled with them. June might be a bit slow this year, I still have some account recievable problems that might limit my customer base a bit. Is that the time you are thinking about "vacationing" in the US?

Joblo, an acre of dirt sells for how much in the valley? $6-10,000 maybe? If you would start figuring out how many tons of dirt were fed to the "HAPPY COWS" in California every year, and then put a dollar figure on that dirt maybe we could come up with some sort of a Cow-carbon-green energy tax credit to help your state out. Obahma dollars will come flying in. The Delta smelts and Happy cows could both start fighting for water rights. Only in California cows are trained to eat that much dirt, so that means we should protect the cows way of life. Turn the pumps back on!!

Hayman82, Chrome rolls can come from either Scherer corrugating (www.scherercorrugating.com) 1800-883-9790, or Horning manufacturing 717-445-9317. Both make good rolls, do not know if they make rolls for NH choppers.

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

Ahhhh got ya. Yeah that is true. it does not help picking up extra steel out of the field either right.

I was refering to the machine. I dont think the operator should have a problem, he has survived it before. Anything is possible though.

So can you mofify the plasma table plans to handle a water jet head and tub??? Really could use one right now.

Re: Claas 980 V's Krone V12's/Quickcut direct cut

I belive that water jet is something around 65000 psi.
