Ok........I will repent for my gossiping tommorow.

Our 575 was getting its annuall inspection this past weak, and they were nice enough to let us wash it in their shop yesterday.
So we spent the day at the Cat dealership...........What a buch of great guys! Everyone was friendly, helpfull, and more than willing to chat about farm stuff.
Anyway, one salesmen ask me if I heard the latest rumor. "Cat is buying Agco"

As far as he knew it was just a rumor, though he ussually does not say things like that to me.

Well Microsoft has been looking to buy AOL for a while, so why not a merger like this. They are already pretty well together on the combine thing it seems, so why not just have one own the other.

I cannot confirm that it's true or false though.

"AGCO paid 20 million for the Challenger name and the factory where the MTs are made. In exchange, CAT would use AGCO and MF equipment (balers, swathers, combines, and two wheeled tractors).
neil"

So what is happening down at the Dekalb plant now that the MT's are no longer made there?

Fat Daddy.............

I would have to agree with your thoughts on whats going on with cat and Agco..........Things just don't add up.
Also thanks for clarifying the Cat/AGCO deal. Your explanation is how I understand it to have been and is, though many have said different.

Fatdaddy:The way you explain the Cat/Agco deal seems to be about right,(what I heard) except I can't see anyone agreeing to give shares to Cat for marketing the equipment. That would be Corp. suicide, I won't say never because who knows what really goes on behind Corp. doors...Neil

cogleaner I am wondering what makes you say that Cat would never buy Agco?

As far as Agco and Case merging; Big Bob has been trying to buy Case for the last 7 + years and if he has not got it done yet I would have to say it's not going to happen. I would say that's why the deal with Cat went down. Plus with the agreements between Cat and Agco(engines, power trains and stock holdings) there's no room for Case or anyone else for that matter.

So they would dump there lexion combine

and make a yellow 2388 with lexion on the side of it

ahh well atleast they would have a good combine then
Image

I wish mcormick would buy the 2388 and manufacture it and one bigger ( like case was going to)

whenever case goes to the 7010

that way if that doesn't work out i won't have to go yellow

Not really an option for us

Guys get real CaseIH and Agco NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Trust me. Ask yourself what does CaseIH bring to the table for Agco?....DMI? owned by NH........8010 combine introing a class 8 w/ more horse bigger grain tank faster unload rate.........MX... got the DT,MT, CVT......Hay equipment...Got Hesston.oh and New Idea Planting equip got White......Engine SISU and CAT. If you look where one of the big hot shots from CaseIH went?? I say thats who going to own CaseIH....... Not Agco.

I also seriously doubt anything will happen

I sure hope not

Cause i really don't want for things to stop progressing and for us to go the other route

Case has great tractors (especially 4x4's)

and our combines are really good and the planters are awesome

Im sure things will stay the way they are

The only thing we own thats agco is a rogator and well i sure hope agco runs the other divisions a heck of alot better than them

Claas is not for sale unless the Claas family with Helmut on top wants to sell it.
They've inreased their turnover by 12.8 % last year and are drastically increasing their market shares.
The plant in Harsewinkel is just done renovating and a new assambly line for the big Xerion tractors was added.

Why sell????
They just bought another 29% of Renault tractors instead.
You have no idea how they run that company...

All the talk of someone buying Claas, what if Claas were doing the buying,
Think about it, private company doing well, no share holders to answer to.
Since we are talking rumor, heard from a Claas rep that they have there sights set on Case

I've seen quite a few of their conventional combines in the past. While they started under the Ford name, I saw my first blue Claas Dominator in 1981, at a Ford house near Cherokee, Oklahoma. A couple of years later, Claas dropped their alliance with Ford and began selling combines not just in their own name, but their corporate colors as well.

I saw quite a few up in Iowa and Illinois during the early to mid 1980's.

The other Claas machines I've seen are the round balers and some of their forage harvesters. I'm impressed with the Jaguar series foragers, too.

Jakey,

About 60 miles north of me is where corn is more of an marginal crop for production (well.......it use to be anyway). There are way more dairy operations up there. The Claas Jaguar forage harvester seems to be similar to a 590r in that nothing can match it. (So Im told by operaters, not personal experience).

Quote:Are there any actual Claas dealers in North America? Speaking of Claas, are there any Claas products sold in North America besides the Lexion combines?

I sat through a Lexion presentations where they were talking about the claas company and its world-wide presence. I have to tell you, I was impressed. This company is bigger than I thought. It actually publishes its own annual report which is not common for privately owned companies (they are proud of their numbers, as they should, they are growing in all areas). It has plants all around the world and they said that the one in Germany is so large that the Deere and the old case combine plants as they sit in east moline illinois next to each other will fit within the main claas plant's compound. They also make as many combines as Deere and New Holland. Take a look a the Claas annual report on their web site, some good stuf there. They seem to be buying other companies too. They have bought out most of Renaults ag side and it looks like the even bought into the aerospace and automotive industry to. A company who diversifies like that plans to be around for a long time.
