we own a 688 head. rented a 678 head last year because we had some down corn. The 678 worked really well. handled down corn a lot better. also was much less likely to plug on point rows than our 688. If i can find a resonably priced 678 I think i'll own it.

not that I know of. Looks to me like big drum is the way to go. Only downside is it's a little heavier on the cutter as they hand farther forward. Big drum has less than half as many gearboxes as small drum so it seems like less to go wrong

have you had problems with your 688 at night. when the dew comes on ours really fights us. Or is it just because mine is getting tired. noticed it a little bit with the 678 but not nearly as much
