Metal debris in hyd system - 2012 S670

I have a new to me 2012 S670 with the advanced powercast spreaders. I demoed it at the tail end of corn harvest last fall seemingly without issue but now trying it in canola for the first time it warned me of low spreader speed(s). Visually I could see one side was worse then the other and neither could spread enough for a 35' header. I've since learnt that in corn the spreaders have a speed range of 350-550 rpm and in small grains 600 - 800. I suspect the spreaders may have already had issues in corn last fall as they were able to maintain 460 - 650 rpm, enough to satisfy the 65% reduction alarm threshold while in corn mode.

I have resolved the poor spreader speed by removing one valve at a time from the valve block and inspecting it for debris. We found metal debris jammed in both compensation valves and after removing it they spin very easily. So now the question begs, where did the metal debris come from? I have attached the hyd schematic and note there is no filter employed in this hyd circuit. I believe all the other oil returned to the main reservoir is filtered so my suspicion is that the debris came from the spreader circuit.

Does anyone recognize the pieces?
