Was told today it was the same cutter head
As the old 7000's. The only really big change
Is how the KP goes in. It is going to be released
At john Deere intro next year and hit the fields
Spring 2015. The guy that ran it said it was a
Krone Claas hybrid.

I find that hard to believe you only have to look at some of the earlier pictures to see there would appear to be massive differences in the feed roller drive no more ivloc box any more and all the pick up drive has changed as well.

Now I wonder which one of the many versions that were in the fields this year is going to move forward? I understand that only one will move forward for more years of design and refinement. All the excitement and speculations about designs and ideas that will never move on. Anybody know how many different concept machines ran this year?

seen one with the same knife cylinder as a 77/7980. the cutterhead housing and whole feedroll assembly is all new.

I'm hoping they get it released then, like to see it out a year or two before I'm ready to replace my 7550. Hopefully it is even better than the 7000 series and not an over engineered machine with nagging issues. I have faith Deere R&D department wont let us Deere spfh owners down :):D:):D

i was laying underneath one and it had some pretty bad angles in chute design goin from under the cutter head up to the accelerator.one thing is the chute narrowed a few inches on eachside in about 2-3 inches in length.also the chute was almost flat not curved like a class/krone.

That chute design definitely is puzzling, I guess we will just have to be patient to see if that's what they would stick with or just some engineers brainy idea they wanted to try

We have been told by our JD rep that if we want a 7080 series chopper we have to order it by march next year after that you have to get the new type as they are shutting down the production line to set it up for the new choppers.

We were told that the new models will be released fall 2014 for arrival spring 2015. First year will be 800 HP and below.... which confirms why so many saw prototypes output at current 7980 levels. Higher horsepower model(s) will be released the following year.....Exact words concerning engines, "moving away from Cummins".... must be twin Deere engines or another brand of single....
