8820 Titan 2,

It is a '85 that has been pretty much fully rebuilt by the previous owner. He farms about 20 miles down the road so i know it's history. Has 4600 hours on it and runs like a top. Previous owner was a good mechanic.

I hope to be picking up a different straw chopper rotor for it. It currently has the old standby Tri-Rod rotor that Deere used all the way up to the 9650 machines. Do a decent job of chopping and spreading but for the amount of straw we produce in this country a fine cut chopper is a must to get any kind of tillage implement through the straw afterward. I found a Redekop fine cut rotor and will be upgrading the stationary knives as well.

I liked doing tillage this fall behind a Deere 9770 the neighbor has with the fine cut rotor so it was a fairly easy decision to make. Cuts everything into 1 to 2 inch lengths. You could do fall tillage with a field cultivator instead of a chisel plow.

Also picked up a hopper extension for the beast so I will have to get that on this winter too.

Here is some 80 Bu./Ac. wheat. We were dropping straw for a neighbor with cattle. Everyone seeded canola this year so bedding for the feedlot is a bit scarce around these parts.

dont know the maker of the grain tank extension but heaped up i have had 300 bushels of corn in her. i would like to get a mauer whopper topper, i think they look a lot better.

if we move to a grain buggy next year we wont need much of an extension though.

I appreciate all the compliments. I also appreciate everyone taking out time to read through 19 pages of this thread that I started back in 7/06. I hope that someone can use any information that's in this thread to help them with their 8820 or any 20 series.

And Roush I totally agree. I grew up riding in and operating a 20 series and they are still around the farm after 33 years when we bought our 1st 20 series, a brand new 6620, back in '79.
