Hello lamar,
I'm not exactly sure of the production years of the Super 92 combines or what year they started calling them MF instead of MH or when they first offered a diesel. But I do have numerous parts books that came from my Grandfathers Massey dealership and the book for the "Massey Ferguson Super 92" was published in June of 1964. It is interesting to note that in this publication I can find parts for the diesel engine as well as all the part numbers for factory air conditioning (Second Year Production). I wonder how many other manufactures offered A/C in 1964 or even 1963, if I am correct in assuming the second year production printed at the top of the page. My uncle told me that there was only 6 Diesels that came to Western Canada. I saw one at a sale near High River Alberta that was in pieces(Should have bought it) and if my memory serves me correct I believe I read something about this machine on this site a while back. There was also one that sold a few years ago at an auction near Olds Alberta for around $2500.00. My Dad was at this auction and when he asked the buyer what his plans for the machine were he replied that it was a collectors item and he was going to put it away. Good for him. I guess this is a long winded answer to your question but I hope it helps.

The parts book for many models. Most of the individual books have serial numbers and customer names in them.

The super 92 is listed as being built from 60-63 according to my history of combines book (can't remember the exact name.) Had a wider walker body than the 92 I guess. The 300 came out in 63 and the 410-510 in 64. European 400 and 500 came out before that I think, but probably had the same size walker width as the cylinder. The following year or two I think they came out with the 4 and 510 with wider walker body. Not sure about that on the Euro combines which were built in Scotland I think.

Hello Redpainter,

I am in France here.
For me the 400 and 500 were introduced in 1960 in canada, and the production of 500 started just after in France (not sure if they were made in Scotland) French production is different because they were built in "metric". Some shaft and bearing aren't the same, and this have cause some delays because the dealer don't give the right part. (I know a farmer who works in the same time with a canadian 500 and an european).

After in France (1964 I think), the 410 and 510 were introduced, with the larger walker body, but were updated for 1969 by the 520 and a bigger machine (the 620). In the same time, Scotland factory build some 510 because it was a very popular model in europa, and introduced the 515 model as the first machine to have an additional tresher. (They put it after the walker, and after, all MF having this system have their number ending with a 5 instead of a 0.)
The MF salesmanual of 1964 said that you could order a 500 or a 510. The production of the 500 should stop in 1965.

The 92 was build in France as the 892 (8 for France) , and was replaced by the 99 from 1960 to 1964 , which is like a Super 92.

You will find some infos here : http://www.konedata.net/mf.htm

I was born in 1970 and as a kid remember grandpa and the uncles running a few super 92's along with the three 510's they had, so that would have been 1974, 1975ish when the S92's started going offline for them. Back then they'd harvest like crazy for a good month to get it all done. A single big machine could probably do the same or better now.

interesting about the French built 500`s I am certain that 4 and 500`s were built in Scotland from the very early 60`s and I am certain that they were imperial in production. I am certain that no 92`were built there as MF sold the French built 892 I think in the UK for one year only as they were slow getting the factory to produce the 4-500 series after stopping the 780 probably due to industrial disputes which I believe killed the Scottish plant in the end

The MF board has certainly closed the Kilmarnock factory in the beginning of the 70' because they have 3 combines factory ( Scotland, France, and Germany) only for Europa, and because the Marquette and Kilmarnock factory were doing the same product.
MF was certainly the only company which made the same combine in 3 factories in the same time : 510; 510-7 and 510-8.
